Still Picking Strawberries…

Want to join us this Saturday picking Strawberries at the Great Park...

IMPORTANT NOTICE… All volunteers must be at the designated area no later

than 8:45 am, This will allow us to check waivers and then caravan to the 

designated area to glean. Volunteers that come after we have left to the area

we ask that they do not drive on the park looking for everybody. This will then

be a safety issue for L&F 10,The farmer and The Great Park. We also asked that

organization leaders and volunteers do not give directions to the site if they

are called on there phone by late participators. Accidents and injuries are our

number one concern. 

Hours Of Gleaning (10:am to 12:pm)

 

Directions to The Great Park:

Take the (5 ) South to Sand Canyon Off Ramp and turn (Left)and go straight to the first light

Marine Way and turn (Right) continue straight until you get to the Guard Shack

Turn (Left) and follow the road all the way to the stop sign

Continue straight pass the stop sign and park immediately on the right

 

What’s needed:

Please make sure all volunteers sign the waivers before they come out this will help us to get to the fields faster.

Proper Clothing:

 

All volunteers must wear long sleeve shirts,pants, closed toe shoes,gloves if you prefer,

hat if you want to protect yourself from the heat and bring some water.

 

 Organizations responsibility:

 

Organizations must bring their own vehicles to transfer harvested produce back to their facilities.

You must also bring your own crates ,gaylords etc If you don’t have any we will try and get you some

 you can borrow but must be returned before the next harvesting. 

 

NOTE… All organizations must give L&F x10 the weight count and list of produce you 

                   received Saturday. This will be  required every time there is a harvest or gleaning

                   project.

 

NOTE… The president will be waiting in his White Cargo Van.

Another busy weekend coming up Saturday 22nd on Orange County Produce farm land

at The Great Park. We will either pick Strawberries or glean Green beans…

WOW!!! Gleaning Corn After We Pick Strawberries Saturday 6/15/13

Just in CORN!!! Want to glean corn on “The Original Manassero Farms” this Saturday then come

on out to Irvine Valley College from 12:pm to 2:pm. Dan has some of the sweetest white corn

we have ever tasted and you can have some too to take home…

 

Directions and Information…

 

ADDRESS …Irvine Valley College

                            5500 Irvine Center Drive                                  TIME:12:pm-2:pm

                            Irvine  Ca, 9261

 

DIRECTIONS…405 S. Exit Jeffrey and turn (left)/Go straight until you get to light called

Irvine Valley and turn right into the College…Proceed straight pass the

the yellow ticket booth on the left and park in the Parking Lot to the left which will be next to the filled.

 

DIRECTIONS5 North exit Jeffrey and go left pass Irvine Center Drive to the light called

Irvine Valley and turn left and follow the same directions as above.

 

DIRECTIONS5 South Exit Jeffrey and follow the road to the Jeffrey light turn left and 

go pass Irvine Center Drive to the light called Irvine Valley and follow the

same directions as above.

 

Clothes to wear  Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes,long shirts,hats,gloves and pants

to protect themselves.

                   

Corn can be broke off by your hand…

Picking Fresh Strawberries Saturday the 15th from 9:am to 11:am…

We will be picking Fresh Strawberries this Saturday from 9:am to 11:am at The Great Park.

We are in need of (10) volunteers to help us. If you are interested contact us at 714-718-

Saturday June 1st gleaning project…

Heart Of compassion from L.A showed up at The Great Park last weekend with an army to

glean cabbage for the agencies they serve. Heart Of Compassion served over 1,000,000

people last year by partnering with those agincies and also by doing their monthly food

distributions. Pastor Eric Tieze is the president of Heart Of compassion…

Heart Of Compassion gleaned over 4,060 lbs of Cabbage that weekend at The Great park.

After gleaning cabbage Heart Of Compassion went to Dan Manassero of “The Original

Manassero Farms” to pick up cucumber donations donated to L&F x10.  With all the

volunteers that came from L.A the 9,000 lbs of cucumbers they loaded on their truck

was an easy task…

Giving Children hope also came out to glean for their We’ve Got You Back Program which serves

more than 42 schools in Orange County.

They gleaned 1,133 lbs of Cabbage and picked up from “The Original Manassero Farms

1,081 lbs of cucumbers.

Like to plant vegetables at The Great Park on the Valor Field then come out this weekend

and assist AG Kawamura owner of Orange County Produce plant produce.
