Groceries for student Vets at Irvine Valley College 4/20/12

Posted on 28 March 2012 by robertflournoy

Irvine valley College in California Has over 400 or more vets that attend there. Irvine

Valley College also known as I.V.C is one of the schools that has been voted vet friendly and

they should be proud of it.

That being said President Robert Flournoy of  L&F x10 was talking to a fellow employee at

the College who told him that a student vet had said to him…If we can just get some

noodles or something to help us get through the breaks at the College that will help.

The thought of out vets struggling with food was a shock to here so immediately the president

went to work putting a distribution together once a month to help the student vets at the

College.

We have partnered with so far with.. Orange County Food Bank,The Original Manassero Farms,Vineyard

a Compassionate Ministry in Anaheim.

Our first distribution will be on April 20th at 1pm on the College Campus. We at the moment

have 30 vets who have signed up for assistants and we expect more in the next couple of weeks.

If you would like to support this program we are starting with the student vets you can help

by donating non perishables items, new clothing, new shoes etc. This will be a monthly event to aid

the students now and the many that will be coming back from war to go to College.

You can contact me at…. loavesandfishesx10@yahoo.com or 714-718-2930

All Donations are tax deductible.

Greetings,

My name is Darryl Cox. I am the Director of Financial Aid and Veteran Affairs at Irvine Valley college. Your name and organization was forwarded to me by one of our campus employees, Mr. Robert Flournoy. Mr. Flournoy and his organization, “Loaves and Fishes x10” serve many needy people in the Santa Ana area.
Irvine Valley College has about 400 veteran students enrolled and we expect that as the wars in the middle east wind down,  many more will find their way to our campus. These individuals are facing many challenges as they make the transition from military life to educational endeavors. Many face the hardships of PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), lack of housing, funding for the basic needs, employment, child care and family health services. In spite of it all, these young men and women are dedicated to achieving their goal of higher education and providing a better life for themselves and their families.
Irvine Valley College would like to partner with you and your organization to provide food distribution and services to our veterans. Most of these individuals are receiving VA educational benefits and/or federal student financial assistance. As such, their income level, household size, and resources can be verified. Most will fall below 150% of the established poverty line.
I’d like to talk to you more about our veterans, the services we offer and how we might partner with the Community Action Partnerships of Orange County and the Orange County Food Bank.
Regards,
Darryl Cox

Testimonials of volunteers who came out to glean on Farm Land last Summer 2011

Making a Difference

It is truly a blessing to have Loaves and Fishes x10 making a difference to hundreds of families in Orange County – ministering/feeding to those in need. In just a few hours of my time contributing to picking oranges, I am heart-filled that it provided to many families, and I am thankful for what God is doing through this ministry. Thank God for giving Robert the strength and wisdom dedicated to a great ministry that’s making a difference to the community.

Gleaning for the hungry

Rana M.

Loaves and Fishes is wonderful organization that Saddleback Church Food Pantry partners with. Robert, their leader, has organized many gleaning activities where the church volunteers have been able to pick beautiful produce for families in need. He has strong faith and it is obvious that God is blessing his ministry. Last year, we received through gleaning and donations over 4,000 pounds of fresh produce. We are looking forward to partnering with Loaves and Fishes X10 again this year. Rana Saddleback Church Food Pantry Manager

Gleaning

VINCENT C.

I consider myself most fortunate for being able to go to a farmer’s field on a Saturday morning and pick veggies for those in need. God gave me strength to help others. God gave me time so that I could pick fresh produce so others could eat. God gave me hands so that I can honor Him by working. I am so blessed to be a part of this wonderful cause. I did not spend all day and night, just a few hours of my time, but I gotta tell you, in those few hours I picked hundreds of pounds of good nutritious food for those who need it most. You know you can read in the Bible about giving to others and being kind to the poor. But when you actually participate, those verses come alive. Thank you Robert for inviting me. I am most grateful.

GABRIEL R

Great Ministry

I had the pleasure and honor to work with Robert in doing some food distributions. It was amazing to see people coming to the Lord’s presence when they were shown love by this act that has a great meaning. It didn’t matter if they were from different religions or backgrounds. I also had the great opportunity to go gleaning with him and it is most defenitely feels like you’re making a difference in the atmosphere. I felt like something in the air of the environment was changing. I encourage for anybody who wants to be blessed, join in! I pray this verse that it’ll become reality for Robert. Much respect God bless!

Proverbs 11:25
A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Gleaning in the OC

Loaves and Fishes X 10 is truly a blessing to the OC. What a great concept. I have seen them at work, and they do what they say…Glean local farms and donate the fresh produce to local food pantry’s to help provide nutritional food for families that are in need. God bless this organization and keep up the great work.

MINISTER EVELYN032

When I was Hungry you Fed me…(Matthew 25:35)

Every since I’ve met Loaves and Fishes x10 over 5-years-ago+ my life has never been the same! This organization has a heart for “ALL” people. I’ve known them to reach out the lest fortunate, men, woman and children. I can’t say that they are like your ordinary food pantry or local food bank, because this organization has the ability to connect on a higher level with it’s receivers and participants. They have not only offered food, clothing, toys, etc., but they go beyond the call of duty to make sure the people have a relationship with God which is the most important spiritual food you can give a person. Physical food is essential for the human body, but spiritual food is vital for our eternal soul. I’m reminded of a little parable that says: “Give a man a fish and he won’t starve for a day. Teach a man how to fish and he won’t starve for his entire life.” author unknown. I shared that parable to say this about Loaves and Fishes X10 that they are using the same concept when they are teaching people how to plant their own harvest then turn around and glean plenty for different organizations they distribute to. Yes, I do know for a fact that this organization is not only concerned that you are fed in the natural, but your soul is fed in spiritual realm as well. If I had to pick one scripture in the bible to describe Fishes and Loves X10, I would choose Revelations 7:1 Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. This organization is personally connected to each project therefore you really feel the ‘LOVE” and passion that flows when they are doing the work that they “LOVE” to do and has been chosen by God to carry out their vision. My prayer is that this organization continue to be blessed as they bless “ALL” people, and make it nationwide that they may be known all around the world. This organization does know that they will NOT receive their ultimate reward from man down here, but they are fully aware of whom they work for and know that when they arrive in heaven, there’s a crown waiting just for them with their name on it for being so diligent and a blessing to God’s people.

We have Strawberries coming out our ears…

Posted on 22 March 2012 by robertflournoy

WOW!! It seems as Summer draws closer things start to get more exciting with

Donations from “The Original Manassero Farms” in Irvine California. This week

so far Manassero has Donated over 150 Flats of Strawberries to L&F x10 for

Food Pantries and low income families. Thats 150 Flats x12 which = 1,800 baskets

of Berries “WOW” that is a lot of Jam. It seemed when we were loading the van they

just kept coming and coming and it would never end. Hey! were not complaining

by any means we are just trying to give you an idea of the Blessing that came our way

this week…so far.

These Strawberries were so popular my friend Tammy made Chocolate cover Strawberries for her office

get together which turned our delicious. I’m sure glad I got some that day because I heard they went

fast the first time she made them that week.

I have never had chocolate cover Strawberries before. I mean I have had chocolate covered Cherries

before but never Strawberries and I can say these things were sweet and with so much flavor…Good

job Tammy.

I have never seen Strawberries in different shapes and sizes even some that looked like Hearts.

“Hey Mom take care of that Heart I gave you I only have one..lol.

Reaching out to E.B.C Academy in Santa Ana California

Posted on 17 March 2012 by robertflournoy

Times are tuff all over the world when it comes to Hunger but not in my

back yard says President Robert Flournoy of Loaves And Fishes x10.

It was once said by a good friend of the Presidents that we should always work

on our backyard first before we do anyone’s else  or in other words feed our

community before we feed someone else. These are very powerful words from

a man who has been serving the Community for over 46 years. The backyard

here in Orange County needs attention and we plan to give it the attention

it needs.

We are very happy we were able to support this school…listen to the volunteers

as they speak about today’s event.

WHAT!! A WEEK…

Posted on 15 March 2012 by robertflournoy

It has been an amazing four days starting off excited and hopeful on Monday

the 12th with our Deliveries of 48 flats of Strawberries because this is the first

weekend we received them this year. We were excited because we were

able to support one of our biggest Donors that support our Organization.

We then began to follow up on one of our projects which is to support our student

vets here in California with food once a month

because…

The College has about 400 veteran students enrolled and we expect that as the wars in the middle east wind down,  many more will find their way to our campus. These individuals are facing many challenges as they make the transition from military life to educational endeavors. Many face the hardships of PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), lack of housing, funding for the basic needs, employment, child care and family health services. In spite of it all, these young men and women are dedicated to achieving their goal of higher education and providing a better life for themselves and their families

We have made contact with an Organization willing to support  our Vets.

All this was just the beginning of the week. We had a meeting

at North Gate Market CORP to talk about how we can work together

and lets just say we are pleased with what transpired from the meeting.

We Donated once again to the Orange County Bar Foundation of Santa Ana

for their Health Fair On Saturday 17th. We also plan to have our own Outreach

on the same day because of a phone call the President received about

Elementary kids stilling food to take home to eat. This cannot happen we must

all do our part to help stomp out Hunger say President Robert Flournoy.

Stay tune their is much more to follow and we will release it soon 🙂

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.

We are excited about showing  this video on how Christian Rapper Gabriel

Reyes and President Robert Flournoy came together to Minister to the youth.

L&F x10 is working on supporting Vets in College

Posted on 09 March 2012 by robertflournoy

President Robert Flournoy has been in contact with Food Banks to see  if they

would like to support out vets who have come back from the Middle East

and are going to one of the Colleges here in California. The reason for the assistance

is stated on this letters:

I am the Director of Financial Aid and Veteran Affairs . Your name and organization was forwarded to me by one of our campus employees, Vince Cooper. I understand that your organization, “Loaves and Fishes x10” serve many needy people in the Santa Ana area.

In spite of it all, these young men and women are dedicated to achieving their goal of higher education and providing a better life for themselves and their families.

The College would like to partner with you and your organization to provide food distribution and services to our veterans. Most of these individuals are receiving VA educational benefits and/or federal student financial assistance. As such, their income level, household size, and resources can be verified. Most will fall below 150% of the established poverty line.

I’d like to talk to you more about our veterans, the services we offer and how we might partner with Loaves and Fishes X10.
